Lose Weight with MyFitnessPal App – “Even When You’re Working Out Like Crazy, Abs are Made in the Kitchen”

I LOVE to work out! I know that probably is annoying for some to hear, but it is an important part of my lifestyle and it makes me feel good and sleep good. It is my “me time” where I do something to focus on myself to make me fitter, stronger, and healthier. Of course we all want to stay in shape, and as we get older, that can be challenging. I sit a lot more at work these days (even though I have a standing desk, I still sit in meetings) and that can impact one’s metabolism.

Trying to focus on eating healthy during the week is important to me, but then splurging a bit on the weekends allows me to have a little fun, too. I can’t be good ALL THE TIME! But lately, that doesn’t seem to be working as well as it used to. I think I have been splurging just a little too often.

I was at the pool and my friend told me that she lost 10 pounds in 8 weeks by tracking her food on the MyFitnessPal app. I have always disregarded the apps where you count your calories or track your exercise because I felt like I was eating good enough, working out a lot, and pretty happy with my weight. She told me she didn’t realize how much she ate every day and it helped her to get a better understanding of her food intake.

So I started using it last Sunday and I was really surprised how quickly all of the food adds up during the day once and how much I was eating. It’s been over a week now, and I am WAY more conscious of what I eat because once I log it on the app, I see how quickly it adds up. It also tracks carbs, protein and other nutritional information to help me keep on track. It’s so quick and easy to use and it has most of the restaurant entrees stored to find easily when you search for a meal. You can even scan the bar code of food items from the grocery store. I am hoping to see some good results but so far so good!
