As Seen On FOX8; New Day Cleveland : Make Your Own Pizzas for Lunch!

If they make it, they will eat it. This is a philosophy that I firmly believe in. Getting your children involved with cooking usually ends with them finishing their plate. On a day off from school, such as a Snow Day, Holiday, or simply the weekend, it can sometimes leave us scratching our heads and wondering what’s for lunch? Now you can incorporate a craft AND lunch! Bravo!

You will need these staple ingredients, and the rest is up to your taste buds:

  • Pizza dough, flour, a rolling-pin
  • Pizza sauce (jar or can)
  • Pizza cheese (shredded mozzarella or a shredded pizza blend)
  • Toppings of your choosing

You can find the pizza dough in your grocer’s refrigerator or freezer section. That’s personal preference. Freeze it at home so it’s always on hand for unexpected Snow Days. Betty Crocker also makes a mix from a bag that you can keep in your pantry. If in a hurry, you can buy pre-made, pre-formed pizza dough.

I have one son who is a meat lover so he usually chooses crumbled bacon (leftover from breakfast) and turkey pepperoni, while the other prefers black olives, artichokes, and banana peppers. What makes this so great is you can just cut the dough into as many mini portions as you need and everyone’s happy to make their own flavor creation!

Simply follow the instructions on the package of dough for baking and rising pre-prep. Not only did you just create something together, you just made lunch together. 2 birds, 1 stone. I love that! Voila! Bon Appetite!
