Wine delivered? Think Winc! $22 off for new members

I’m 100 percent behind the home delivery trend. Clothing, groceries, skin care – so much can be ordered online now and can be customized to your preferences and schedule. As a working mom, I am so appreciative of any service that cuts out an errand and allows me to place an order in the comfort of my home, usually while sipping on a glass of wine. So how perfect is it that now I have discovered a service that delivers – you guessed it, wine!

Winc Wine offers 4 personalized wines each month. Bottles start at $13 each. Winc is not your traditional wine club: it’s a direct-distribution global wine company that personalizes the entire wine experience! Winc is perfecting how wine is made, distributed, perceived and purchased via its Palate Profile quiz, which recommends wine based on your unique tastes. It’s the wine club for a new generation of wine drinkers.

With a Winc membership, users not only can order wine for home delivery, but they receive customized, hand-picked wine recommendations. These are based on a brief personality profile you fill out when you start your membership with Winc. In addition, Winc fine-tunes your recommendations as you go along as you provide input on the wines you receive and enjoy. This is perfect for me, as I have limited knowledge of wine and usually feel like a deer in the headlights when I am in the wine section of the store.

For my first Winc order, I received four recommendations: a rose, a sparkling white blend, a Chenin Blanc and another white blend. These fit in well with my wine preferences (mostly white, especially in the summer).

Although I was fine with these recommendations, users can make changes to the recommended wines and browse hundreds of other wine options. You can also increase the quantity of one of the bottles, which in my case, I did. I ordered the recommended wines as well as a second bottle of the rose.

The wines arrived just a few days later and were packaged well so as to avoid any broken bottles. Now it was time for the best part – tasting the wines!

We tried the 2017 Ruza Zinfandel Rose first. I’m a big fan of rose wine every since it became popular again a couple of years ago. It’s the perfect summer wine – not too sweet and not too dry. We enjoyed this wine on a particularly hot summer evening while I was making dinner.

Next up: the 2017 Cape Route Chenin Blanc. I don’t normally drink this type of wine, and quite honestly I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I was grateful for the handbook that came with my Winc order that lays out all the different types of wine and how they compare among each other. I’ll definitely hang on to this guidebook as a handy reference when I’m looking to pair wine with certain dishes and impress my friends! Overall this was a good wine… smooth, dry and another good option for hot summer weather.

The 2016 Funk Zone White Blend is my favorite so far from this order. I love the name of the wine and it had a little more “personality” than the others. This would be great paired with savory appetizers before a meal (or with seafood, which we had it with for dinner). I have yet to try the fourth wine, 2017 Finke’s Sparkling White Blend, which I’m saving for a special occasion!

Much like other delivery services, members can schedule monthly deliveries or take months “off” if they don’t need a delivery that month. This makes it a convenient go-to service when you need it (such as if company is coming to town) but it’s certainly handy to skip it from time to time if you don’t need it that month.
