When I was in college I used to volunteer in a kindergarten classroom. One year the teachers cut out small footprints/shoe prints from green construction paper and taped them around the room. At the end of each path was a small gold chocolate coin for the kids.
Last year, my husband and I did this very same thing at our house. The footprints walked in from the front door, up a wall, through the family room and into the kitchen. At the end of the trail was a chalkboard drawing of a leprechaun with the message “Happy St. Patrick’s Day” and a little bowl of snacks.
At the time our son was almost 2 and he loved it! I think we’ll do it again this year with a different path and a new drawing.
