Prepare Your Table and Your Heart for Thanksgiving

Hard to believe that Thanksgiving, and the holidays to follow, are upon us. I think the box stores have skipped right over Thanksgiving this year and headed straight into Christmas!  Just moments ago we werew hanging spider webs, ghost, and goblins while helping our children carve the most amazing pumpkin ever to be see on Instagram!!

This year is the first time that both both sides of our families will be joining us at our home to celebrate Thanksgiving.  Truth be told…this is my FAVORITE holiday!  I love the food, the company, the wine!  I also feel that the meaning of Christmas can often get lost in the excitment of gift giving and receiving (it’s ok we all love it…and get carried away). Therefore, I enjoy Thanksgiving beacuse of the time we spend around the table before dinner, sharing what we are grateful for, digging deep from within, and in doing so it seems that happienss falls upon everyone and helps lead us into our holiday season full of Cheer!

That being said… I wanted to start a similar, but new tradition for everyone to express their gratitude this year.  Along side the hors’dvours  will be a Mason Jar with a slip of paper saying, “I am grateful…” ,for each person to fill out and place in the jar. Before we serve our meal I am going to pass the jar along and have each person pull out a slip to read aloud.  I like this becuase no one is put on the spot, it allows people to speak with more sedimant.

Along with new traditions, I was thinking a few new menu items would a fun way to spice it up a little!  I figure New House (for dinner) New Menu (sort of).  Some things must always remain a staple!  Recipes passed down from generations or even thoughs started more recent.  There is no way I will be replacing my 92 year old grandmothers pies!  However, I have stumbled upon a few new recipes and have made a few already to sample (btw…delicious!).  How about a cute cocktail to go with as well? I have that too!   Below are the new dishes I will be adding to our dinner!

This year instead of going around the table to express our gratitude I have a new idea.

Whether you have to courage to try one, or all, I hope that you enjoy them, as well as your families!  Be sure to wear a cute pair of leggins and a loose fitting sweater!!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Start out with a gorgeous cocktail and a tasty treat!
