When the weather starts to heat up, the little balls of energy that are your kids are just itching to go out and play in one of Cleveland’s fantastic parks! But, when it gets a little too hot, your thoughts turn to ways of keeping them cool and safe while still letting them have some fun.

It can be tricky ensuring they stay hydrated and eat the right foods, but don’t worry, there are plenty of easy ways to keep your kids cool, hydrated and energized.

Frozen Water
Invest in a few hard-wearing plastic drinks bottles, then fill them with water or juice the night before your day out in the sun. In the morning, it will be a chilled bottle that will slowly melt during the day. This will provide your kids with a cool refreshing drink packed with ice that’s also a bit of fun – the perfect combination to encourage them to drink enough to stay hydrated while they’re out and about.

If you’re sticking with water, give it a twist by letting them select their favorite fruit. You can then add a few slices or berries to the water, which will infuse a refreshing flavor into their ice drink.

Buy a Selection of Cool Bags and Boxes
This isn’t something you’ll need to do all at once. But, if you let the kids help choose your next cool bag – or even one of their own – then you’re much more likely to have the right sized bag to take out with you. That will make it easier to pack a snack, drinks or a complete picnic for your day out, enjoying the lovely weather!

Food and Snacks to Fill Those Cool Bags
Aside from how to transport the food and snacks you’ll need for a fun-filled summer’s day out, you need to know what food to bring along! Here are a few ideas that should satisfy even the fussiest group of kids:

· Frozen, squeezable yogurts – they can be frozen which will turn them into a refreshing but quick snack to have while they’re busy playing.

· Veggie sticks and berries – particularly if you store them carefully at the bottom of your cool bag are another tasty, healthy and cooling snack to eat on a fun day in the sun.

· Watermelon – its juicy, refreshing and delicious! It’s also easy to eat with your hands so doesn’t require any additional utensils making this the perfect snack to hydrate, cool and energize the kids.

Go On and Enjoy That Sunshine!

Hopefully you’ve found these tips helpful and can now keep your kids cool and safe in the sun so that everyone can enjoy some time outside together this summer.
