We tried our first “all inclusive” last year at Beaches, Turks and Caicos and we are hooked! On vacation, we like to eat and drink, so all inclusive just makes sense. Plus, the convenience of having everything included and never having to worry about taking your purse/wallet anywhere makes vacation that much more relaxing.

So, we decided to plan another all inclusive vacation this year and my husband did a ton of research to find the best of the best all inclusive resorts. We have our passports so we decided to go somewhere in the Carribean and based on his findings, Punta Cana seemed to be the answer.

Excellence Punta Cana is an adults only luxury resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Other Excellence Resorts are Excellence Riviera Cancun, Mexico & Excellence Playa Mujeres Cancun – Adults only All Inclusive Resorts. We loved Excellence Punta Cana so much that we are already thinking of going to Excellence Playa Mujeres Cancun next year. We talked to some other couples on the trip that had been there and said Excellence Playa Mujeres Cancun is even better than Punta Cana, although I don’t know how that could even be possible!

Excellence is the romantic luxury getaway you’ve always imagined. Everything is taken care of and the staff will do whatever you need to exceed your expectations. The Caribbean Sea is absolutely breathtaking and the pools were some of the largest, most gorgeous pools I have ever seen that wind through the resort. The gourmet dining options are exceptional with eight unique international restaurants. My favorites were the Mexican Restaraunt and French Restaraunt. Although the Lobster House was up there with the all-you-can eat lobster tails. Yes, you heard me correctly.

My husband and I went to the spa one morning for couples massages and they told us to show up and hour early to enjoy the “ammentities”. I thought the nicest spa I had ever seen was the spa at Atlantis in the Bahamas….that was until I saw this spa. The Miilé Spa has a relaxation garden for wellness and renewal, in addition to their hydrotherapy enormous hot tubs. We had an hour of services at the hydrotherapy spa including mini facials, foot massages and scalp massages before we even got our couples massages. Ridiculously amazing! What a wonderful way to relieve some stress.

One of the other highlights of the trip was the horseback riding on the beach. It took me back to riding horses when I was growing up and it was so surreal actually riding the horse in the ocean water on the beach. I also did Zumba each morning on the beach. All of this was included! And every evening there was Vegas style entertainment that was absolutely breathtaking. And did I mention that they actually cut down cocounts and machete them open using the real coconut juice to make declicious “coco loco” drinks?

The resort is just 35 miles from Punta Cana International Airport and 60 miles from La Romana International Airport. Cleveland now has direct flights to Punta Cana through Frontier Airlines.

We will definitely be going back to this resort in the future! It was heaven on earth!
