My husband knows how much I love Mexican food and margaritas, so he surprised me last Friday night with this amazing margarita recipe and some chips and salsa. The key is that he did not chince out on the ingredients. I hate to be a liquor snob, but the hangover is much more tolerable if you fork it over for some fine tequila. We are thinking the next time we make these (hopefully soon), we will add a splash of soda water, sprite or le criox lime just to put a different spin on it. There is no sugary mix involved, so I would imagine the calories would be less than most other margaritas.

This recipe is definitely worth it if you are a margarita fan! Be sure to get the kosher salt – it adds a nice touch around the rim!

1 1/2 ounces tequila
1/2 ounce triple sec (Cointreau is recommended)
1 ounce fresh lime juice
Lime wedge for garnish
Salt or sugar to rim the glass (optional)

Preparation:
Pour the ingredients into a cocktail shaker with ice cubes.
Shake well.
If desired, salt the rim of a chilled margarita glass.
Pour contents, with ice, into the glass.
Garnish with the lime wedge.
